Julia is an Accredited Practising Paediatric Dietitian and Nutritionist with 16 years of experience. She has worked in some of Australia’s top tertiary public and private paediatric centres, including The Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Adelaide and The Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne. She has post graduate qualifications in Paediatric Nutrition, and further training in the SOS (sequential, oral sensory approach) approach to feeding.
Julia has a large amount of experience managing children with food allergies and feeding difficulties. She has a keen interest in tube weaning and helping to expand the diets of children with limited intake. Julia’s approach is to help families make eating a calm and enjoyable experience whilst helping to look for creative and considered ways that they can meet their child’s nutritional requirements. Julia recognises that there is more than one pattern of eating that will meet a child’s nutritional needs.
Julia has an interest in nutrition research, much of that in the area of Cystic Fibrosis. She has presented at conferences both nationally and internationally and has been heavily involved in teaching students enrolled in Nutrition and Dietetics at Flinders University of South Australia.
Julia is a passionate dietitian who understands that nutrition is a science, but eating is highly emotional. As a mother of four young, often fussy children, she understands what is required to put a meal on the table everyday.
